Description

The Chris Reeve “P” Sebenza is one of the earliest and most historically significant production folding knives from Chris Reeve Knives (CRK). Manufactured on December 7, 1993, this knife comes from the very early era of the Sebenza series, representing the transition period when Chris Reeve was developing the foundation of what would become one of the most influential premium folding knife platforms in the world.

Featuring an overall length of approximately 21 cm, this early Sebenza uses an ATS-34 stainless steel blade with a clean satin finish. The original specification card lists the blade hardness at approximately 56–58 RC, reflecting the early CRK production standards of the period. Compared with later Sebenza generations such as the Regular, Classic, Sebenza 21, and Sebenza 31, the early “P” Sebenza carries a much stronger vintage CRK character — simple, functional, and completely focused on mechanical excellence.

The knife features a full titanium handle with Chris Reeve’s iconic Reeve Integral Lock (RIL), the design that later became widely known as the modern titanium frame lock. The locking system provides a solid, precise feel while showcasing Chris Reeve’s minimalist engineering philosophy. The early CRK logo and distinctive small “P” marking on the handle are important identifiers of this rare early production version.

The overall design is exceptionally clean and restrained. The gray titanium handle finish, simple satin blade, and balanced proportions represent the original Sebenza design language before later generations introduced additional refinements and variations. Rather than relying on exotic materials or decorative elements, this model’s appeal comes from its history, rarity, and authenticity.

This example is especially collectible due to its exceptional completeness, retaining the original handwritten card, documentation, and sheath. As a Sebenza produced more than 30 years ago, the 1993 “P” Sebenza represents a crucial chapter in Chris Reeve’s evolution from early custom maker to the creator of one of the most respected premium folding knives ever made.
